Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has reassured the public of his commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of all Nigerians held captive across the country.

Egbetokun gave his assurance in a statement by the Force’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Olumiyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Reflecting on the recent successful operations, Egbetokun praised the coordinated efforts that led to the rescue of 20 medical students kidnapped in Benue State on August 15, 2024, along with seven other individuals who had been held by criminals. “This is our pledge, and we will ensure its fulfilment,” the statement read.

Egbetokun also called on citizens to actively participate in national security and development initiatives, advocating for an inclusive approach to policing. He stressed the importance of modernizing policing strategies to foster socioeconomic and political progress in Nigeria.

Also, he extended deep appreciation for the unwavering support of National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, acknowledging his important role in supporting the NPF and other security agencies in their rescue missions.

He also recognized the dedication of the National Security Agency (NSA) in assisting security forces to uphold their constitutional duties of protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order nationwide.

Furthermore, Egbetokun extended his gratitude to the officers associated with the NSA’s office, the military, other security personnel, and local community members who actively participated in the rescue operations.

The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to leading a Police Force that is professionally competent, adheres to the rule of law, is service-driven, and remains people-friendly.
