The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency in the northern part of the country, in a bid to end insurgency in the region.
Matawalle stated this when he received the AIG in charge of Zone 10, Mr. Alias Janga, saying the declaration of state of emergency in the north would be the best option to securing lives and property.
He remarked that the security challenges facing the zone had reached an alarming rate and ought to be faced with all seriousness.

He also communicated that the sum of N17 million was recently released to the security agencies to mobilize their personnel to tackle insurgency.

On the recently abducted people from some communities in the state, Matawalle assured that government was making efforts to secure their release.
Responding to the situation, AIG Ali Janga lauded the financial and moral support the government extended to the police and other security agents in the state.
He urged the security agents to double their efforts to ensure that the lives and properties of the people are protected..
The AIG called for more support and cooperation from the government and the good people of Zamfara state to the police in the fight against banditry.
Nigeria has reportedly spent at least ₦6 trillion on security without making much headway in the last decade.
