Oba Ogunwusi stated that traditional rulers were committed to partnering with elected leaders to safeguard the nation, stressing that leadership at this critical period should not be subjected to unnecessary partisan attacks.

“God has brought our leader, President Bola Tinubu, to lead us,” he said. “Traditional leaders are not talking about politics; we are talking about how to save our people and our race. That is beyond politics.”

The Ooni explained that South-West traditional institutions had already passed a vote of confidence on the President, insisting that national unity and security require collective support rather than division.

“We need to support him to save Nigeria. It is very important,” he added. “You condemn this leader, you condemn that leader—so who will eventually lead?”

He criticised those who reduce security matters to political debates, stressing that Nigeria’s survival is a shared responsibility.

“All these politicians have been there from Day One. Nigeria is bigger than them. It is not their personal entitlement; it is the heritage of the people living here,” he said. “Why should politics be brought into security matters? Enough of this.”

Oba Ogunwusi urged Nigerians to place the country’s interest above political differences, warning that the nation must not be allowed to sink because of partisan conflicts.
