The Ijaw People’s Development initiative (IPDI) has called on the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Rt Hon Godknows Angele to give account of the ₦1.98billion the Council accrued in the 2019 fiscal year.

The group is also asking Angele to account for the ₦250million Paris Club fund received by the council in 2019.

The group through its BoT chairman, Cletus Itari stated that despite the huge funds accrued to Burutu, there is no people oriented project in the LGA that is worth ₦50million.

They added that the councilors lodge which happened to be the capital project is nowhere close to ₦50million, thus dares Angele to explain the whereabouts of all financial allocations to Burutu people.

“Despite receiving the FAAC allocation directly from the Federal Government, no reasonable improvement in the scheme of things in the LGA,” Itari stated.

The group further accused Angele of misappropriating the ₦250million Paris club funds received by the LGA in 2019,asking that he states the projects the money was spent on.

Mr. Itari lamented the absence of any visible projects in any of the 11 Federal wards in Burutu, despite receiving such huge funds as allocation.

The group described Angele as a callous fellow following his failure to provide palliatives for Burutu people in the midst of the economic hardship brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

They stressed that from December 2019 to August 2020, about a billion naira has been accrued to the council, yet, there is no commensurable development in the LGA.

The group insisted that Angele must give stewardship on how Burutu’s money was spent, whether it was shared among political godfathers.

“He should tell us if the money is in the custody of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa,” Itari stressed.

They called on well meaning Burutu stakeholders to join the group to ask Mr. Angele to return every misappropriated fund that belongs to the Burutu people without a further delay.
