The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum (IPF) has announced its first-ever Ijaw Media Conference and Annual Dialogue, scheduled to take place on December 4, 2024, in Bayelsa State.

This landmark event, themed “Advancing the Quest for Economic Freedom in a Siege Nation,” aims to gather leaders, stakeholders, and media professionals to discuss pathways toward the economic advancement of the Ijaw people and the broader Niger Delta region.

The conference promises to be a transformative event for the Ijaw community, placing emphasis on innovative solutions for economic growth. Notably, the IPF will honor the late Ernest Ikoli, a pioneering Ijaw editor-in-chief, in recognition of his legacy and contribution to Ijaw journalism.

One of the central topics to be addressed is the environmental security of the Niger Delta. The dialogue will highlight the role of initiatives, such as Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, in safeguarding the region’s ecological health and protecting resources from exploitation.

Attendees will also review the achievements and ongoing challenges of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, alongside projects from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other related initiatives.

The conference will include sessions on capacity-building, economic empowerment, and training programs for Ijaw journalists and media practitioners, aiming to strengthen indigenous media voices within the region.

This initiative underscores IPF’s commitment to supporting media professionals and fostering a robust media network in the Niger Delta.

The event will commence at 12:00 pm on December 4, 2024, at a venue in Bayelsa State, marking a significant step forward for economic and media advocacy in the Ijaw community.
