In the end, Ipswich’s inability to recover from their first-half collapse proved to be their downfall.

EPL Relegation is a fate that none of the teams involved want to face, but for Ipswich, it’s a harsh reality.

The Road to Relegation

Early Setback: Ben Johnson picked up two quick yellow cards and was sent off in the first half.

10 Men: Playing a man down turned the game against them.

This marked a significant turning point in the match, as Newcastle capitalized on the Tractor Boys’ misfortune.

Newcastle Take Control

Newcastle took the lead with a well-timed penalty, as Alexander Isak clinically dispatched the spot kick after Jacob Murphy was brought down in the area.

Ipswich’s woes were compounded when Dan Burn headed in a second goal in the second half, before Osula secured his first league goal for the Magpies.

Sealing Their Fate

West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Brighton simultaneously sealed Ipswich’s fate.

It ensured they would finish the season with a maximum of 18th place, given their current standings of 21 points and the remaining four rounds of fixtures.

As a result, Ipswich will rejoin Southampton and Leicester City in the Championship next season.
