Former Abia State Governor and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has attributed Nigeria’s recent spike in insecurity to politically motivated actors both within the country and abroad.

He further alleged that certain international actors, collaborating with local operatives, are orchestrating terrorist and bandit activities to destabilize the current administration. Kalu pointed out that statements by international figures, including former US President Donald Trump, have intensified discussions on insecurity in Nigeria.

Kalu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to national security, noting that the President canceled all engagements on Sunday to focus on the rescue of abducted victims.

“What we are seeing is always written, something that goes with election. People try to pressure the government in power. You could recall that during President Jonathan’s tenure, similar strategies were used. Terrorists and bandits are orchestrated by some international actors and local collaborators,” Kalu said.

He emphasized that security operatives are fully engaged and that efforts are ongoing to recover abducted students and other victims, describing the unrest as politically motivated attempts to destabilize the government.

“These mercenaries are brought in by politicians and individuals aiming to undermine a president ready to strengthen and revamp the economy,” Kalu concluded.
