The Ijaw Youth Council (Western Zone) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the outcome of its fresh delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency.
Daily Report Nigeria recalls that the delineation of wards and polling units was carried out across the three local government areas that make up the constituency.
As earlier reported, the electoral umpire handed over documents containing results of the exercise to leaders of Ijaw, Urhobo, and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities on Friday.
The report presented by received by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, was handed to Chief Victor Okumagba, Dr. Andrew Igban and Dr. Joel Bisina, on behalf of the Urhobo, Itsekiri, and Ijaw ethnic nationalities, respectively.

Reacting to the report, the IYC thumbed up INEC “for putting things in proper perspective” in what it described as “justice” for the many years of political deprivation Ijaws had suffered in the constituency.
In a statement signed by the trio of Nicholas Igarama – Chairman, Ebi Joshua Olowolayemo Esq – Secretary, and Tare Magbei – Information Officer, the IYC Western Zone in a statement on Saturday, commended INEC for a job done well.
“On behalf of the peaceful and law abiding Ijaws of Warri Federal Constituency, we commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the outcome of the recent delineation exercise.

“It is public knowledge that the IYC Western Zone repeatedly charged INEC to exhibit fairness in the discharge of its duties during the exercise. Hence, we exercise the same vigour in commending the electoral umpire for serving justice to our people.
“This outcome is justice for the many years of political deprivation and marginalization Ijaws were illegally and forcefully punished with, denying our people the appropriate rights of inclusion in governance.
“We have no doubts that this report has further put things in broader and proper perspective against earlier notions of intentional suppression meted on our people.
“We want to by this medium, call on appropriate authorities to speedily ratify all necessary processes in line with constitution requirements for onward implementation of the wards and polling units.”
As per the new delineation, the allocation of wards across the three local government areas in the Warri Federal Constituency is as follows;

WARRI SOUTH-WEST
TOTAL WARDS = 19
