The Mobile Parliament of the Ijaw Youth Council, has ordered for the National Electoral Committee (NECO) to maintain status quo in the conduction of the forthcoming elections of Council.
This is as the Parliament rejected a request by the IYC President, Comrade Peter Igbifa, seeking to a ratification of the Ataba Constitution of 2022.

Speaker of Parliament, Bob Collins Igetei, ordered for the electoral body to maintain the template of the Oporoza Elective Convention of 2020 following a unanimous voting process.

The Parliament also charged the forthcoming National Executive Council to ensure the implementation of a working constitution within six months of assuming office.
The resolution reads;
“The Parliament rejects the president’s letter to Parliament to ratify the Ataba constitution and set outside any constitution and asked the Eleco to return to status quo by using the guidelines and principles of the Oporoza elective convention 2020 templates.
“Secondly, the Parliaments move a motion that the 9th forthcoming National Executive Council to give to Council a constitution not later than 6 months of their assumption of office.”
