The Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) has elected and inaugurated members of its 9th National Executive Council.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the national election of the apex Ijaw youth body held on Saturday at the Ijaw Ware hall in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
The election was declared open by Speaker of the Mobile Parliament, Bob Collins Igetei, who was made acting President of Council at the end of tenure of the 8th NEC led by Peter Igbifa on July 19.
In his opening remark, Igetei charged delegates and members of the Electoral Committee to prioritize the unity of Council, stressing that having a smooth transition process was sacrosanct.

At the end of the exercise, Jonathan Lokpobiri was elected 9th IYC President to lead eight other members of the NEC.
Lokpobiri polled 47 votes ahead of his closest rival, Eldred Pongoyo, who polled 26 votes ahead of Benjamin Appah with 15 votes.

8) Comrade Ari Fekorigha – Director of Mobilization
9) Comrade Abiye Bob-Manuel – Deputy Director of Mobilization
10) Comrade Miracle Iyeya – Woman Leader
11) Barr. Tamaratonye – Legal Adviser
