The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has congratulated Hon. Julius Pondi on his inauguration as House Committee Chairman on the South South Development Commission (SSDC).
Pondi, who represents Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was sworn in on Tuesday alongside members of the SSDC board.
In a statement issued by the IYC Western Zone Chairman, Comrade Nicholas Igarama, and signed by its Information Officer, Comrade Tare Magbei, the group expressed confidence in Pondi’s ability to provide strategic leadership for the board.

“On behalf of millions of Ijaw youths in Delta, Edo, and Ondo States, we extend hearty congratulations to Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi on his inauguration as House Committee Chairman on the SSDC,” the statement read.
The IYC described Pondi’s appointment as a reflection of his “purpose-driven and people-oriented representation” in his legislative and oversight duties.

The group also congratulated the SSDC board chaired by Chief Chibudom Nwuche and Managing Director, Usoro Offiong Akpabio, urging them to focus on accelerating development in the South-South region.
“Our charge to the board is to align its efforts with the commission’s objectives and deliver on its core mandate of transforming the region,” the youth body added.
