IYC: Kerebi-Mein Clan Unknown to Council - Akugbene-Mein | Daily Report Nigeria

The Chairman Ijaw Youth Council, Akugbene-Mein Clan, Comrade Okaba Godwin Dortimi has called on the Acting Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, security agencies, and critical stakeholders of Ijaw Nation to avert the ongoing divisive moves by some persons to destroy the unity of Ijaw Youth Council, Akugbene-Mein Clan, Western Zone.

In a peaceful protest in Bomadi on Thursday, the Akugbene-Mein Clan accused some youths in the local government area of fanning the embers of division and crisis by establishing Kerebiri-Mein Clan IYC, which is not known to Council.

Okaba called for a stop all forms of activities in the name of Kerebiri-Mein Clan IYC as it is capable of breaking law and order in the local government area.

“The general public, particularly members of IYC are strongly advised to disregard any person or group of persons operating with the name of Ijaw Youth Council other than Akugbene-Mein Clan in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.

“This statement has become necessary in view of the fact that Kerebiri-Mein Clan which is not recognized by the Ijaw Youth Council is making attempts to stop the only recognized IYC clan in Bomadi Local Government Area in her operations in Bomadi Community.

Barr. Fun-ororo Narebor, a leader of IYC Akugbene-Mein Clan and a Former Member of Parliament, Ijaw Youth Council also addressed the gathering of the Ijaw Youth in Bomadi stating emphatically that the only recognized IYC clan in Bomadi Local Government Area is the Akugbene-Mein Clan. Any person or group of persons therefore do not have the constitutional powers to operate with name IYC whatsoever and stop the only recognized Akugbene-Mein Clan IYC from carrying out her activities.

He continued:“I hereby call on security agencies, the government of Bomadi Local Government Area and critical stakeholders of council to call to order those behind this divisive plot to stop the Akugbene-Mein Clan IYC and create tension in Bomadi Local Government Area particularly Bomadi Community”.
