IYC to Commence Tour Across Schools in Delta, Edo, Ondo Feb 10

The ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has announced Monday, February 10, 2024, as commencement date for its proposed tour across schools in Delta, Edo, and Ondo States.

This was revealed in a public announcement on Saturday by the Information Officer of the IYC Western Zone, Comrade Tare Magbei.

According to Magbei, the tour is part of the body’s plans to seek quality education in Ijaw communities.

Magbei noted that the tour will precede the Western Ijaw Education Trust Fund that was launched on September 5, 2024, at the unveiling of IYC Western Zone Secretariat Annex in Warri.

The announcement reads;

“The Ijaw Youth Council Western Zone led by its Chairman, Comrade Nicholas Igarama, will commence a tour to primary and secondary schools across the 24 Clans in the zone on Monday, February 10, 2024.

“The tour is sequel to the launch of the Western Ijaw Education Trust Fund (WIETF) that was officiated by President of Council, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr.

“The tour is to enable IYC Western Zone to ascertain the state of education made available to our people by the governments of Delta, Edo, and Ondo States.

“Council looks to contribute its quota towards the improvement of education standard in areas such as employment of teachers, furnituring and renovation of dilapidated structures, science laboratories, libraries and employment of special tutors for the teaching and sustenance of the Ijaw language.

“By this notice, the IYC Western Zone calls for support and collaborative critical stakeholders, community leaders, public officials, NGOs, and all other relevant bodies for a robust partnership.

“All Clan structures are by this notice, encouraged to own this project and provide a hospitable environment for the tour round all 24 Clans.”

IYC Tasks INEC to Speed Up Delineation of Warri Federal Constituency

Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to speed up processes for the delineation of Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State.

The call is coming more than seven months after the electoral umpire started the fresh delineation process across the Constituency.
