The National Women Leader of the Ijaw Youth Council, Comrade Tina Tobusi has empowered widows of deceased former agitators in Delta State.
The empowerment also had relatives and children of the ‘fallen heroes’ as beneficiaries.
Explaining her intention for the exercise, Tobusi said the move was occasioned by the need to alleviate the economic hardship facing the women.

Tobusi said the exercise will cut across the Eastern, Central and Western Zones that make up the Ijaw Youth Council.
She lamented the suffering of the widows, who lost their husbands to the struggle for an emancipated Niger Delta.
Speaking on Friday in Warri, while presenting certificates of training and gift items to the beneficiaries, Tobusi said;
“I thank God for today on behalf of these women. This time last year, we embarked on a training for them in a bid to ease the burden on them, they are passing through a lot of challenges.
“Some of them don’t have anybody to help them or look up to. My intention is to see them resourceful, so they can be able to fend for themselves and their children. Some of them can take the skill from this training to be engaged.”
Congratulating the beneficiaries, Tobusi called on leaders of the region to pay special emphasis on the women, whose husbands paid with their lives for a better Ijaw nation.
“I’m calling on leaders of the region to assist these widows, let hem know their pains. Some of them are really suffering. Some of the children of our fallen heroes are disabled,” she stressed.
The over 50 beneficiaries were presented with certificates of a skill acquisition program from 2021, gift items as well cash.
The beneficiaries commended the IYC Women Leader for remembering them in this times of excruciating economic hardship.
