The Ijaw Youth Council of Western Zone, in collaboration with the Youth and Conflict Resolution Initiative (YCRI), will hold a maiden mega Ijaw summit in Warri, Delta State.
This was contained in a press statement released by the IYC Western Zone on Thursday, November 11.
According to the statement signed by Lugard Izoukumor, Information Officer of Western Zone IYC, the summit is aimed at bridging the gap between Ijaw leaders and youths in Delta State.

The one day event billed for Thursday November 25, 2021, will hold at the prestigious KFT Event Centre in Warri, Delta State, starting 10 am.
The statement read;
“As part of its commitment to advance the socioeconomic and sociopolitical progress of the Ijaw Nation, the Western Zone executive led by its Chairman, Comrade (Dr) Doubra C. Okotete is set to host a one day Peace, Unity and Sustainable Development (PUSD) summit, with a theme, “THE IJAW NATION AND THE WAY FORWARD: THE ROLE OF THE YOUTH,” to address the barriers of conflicts and give a framework to the trajectory of governance that will in turn culminate into development in our environment.
“The summit also aims at facilitating harmonious relationship between stakeholders, Ijaw political leaders and Ijaw youths to chart a collective path for sustainable development and for investors to have the confidence to invest in our areas.
“President Ijaw National Congress, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ali Ari and Executive Director, Research, Planning & Statistics DESOPADEC, Amb Dr Shedrack Agediga will be keynote speakers of the summit.
“In addition, the summit will involve leaders from all works of life, Ijaw traditional rulers, Ijaw political leaders from the federal, state and local government across the Ijaw local government areas in Delta State, religious leaders and selected youth leaders across the eighteen (18) Ijaw kingdoms in Delta State.
“Also worthy to mention is that the program will feature an interactive session between Ijaw leaders and Ijaw youths, which will foster unity, map out strategic ideas and proffer far-reaching recommendations moving ahead.
“The general public, particularly Ijaw youths are hereby urged to attend this one day summit that will encourage a new dimension towards sustainable development in Ijaw Nation,” Lugard added.
