Izoukumor, Omare Behind my 'Illegal' Suspension - Oromoni | Daily Report Nigeria
SHARE

The councillor of Ogbe-Ijoh Ward in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Pere Jeffery Oromoni has said he remains a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Oromoni particularly described his purported suspension as the handiwork of the PDP Chairman in the Council Area, Favour Izoukumor and former commissioner for environment in the state, Frank Omare.

The lawmaker also dismissed his reported dismissal from the party over an alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

In a letter addressed to the party’s chairman of the Ward, Apostle Preye Koremene, Oromoni, through his solicitors, described his suspension as unlawful and defamatory on his persons.

Oromoni further demanded for Koremene to withdraw the released circular announcing his suspension within seven days and tender an apology or face legal action.

The letter reads;

“We are solicitors to Hon. (Barr.) Jeffrey Pere Oromoni, Councilor, Ogbe-ljoh Ward and bonafide member of the Peoples Democratic Party, hereinafter referred to as Our Client and it is on his firm and unequivocal instructions we write as follows: ers

“It is our brief that you and some members of the Ward Executive conspired with Chief Frank Omare and Chief Favour Izoukumor without recourse to the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in a press release on the 31 day of March, 2023 through Liberator Online Newspapers and circulated all over social media, maliciously and purportedly suspended our client in clear violation of the party Constitution.

“The said press release circulated all over social media by Liberator Online Newspaper and others is defamatory, libellous and designed to smear and tarnish the good reputation of our client in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society, as well as to subject our client to odium, ridicule, and public opprobrium in presence of his political leaders, associates and the general public.

“While we do not contend that the Peoples Democratic Party reserve the power(s) to take disciplinary action against any erring member(s), it is much more pertinent to state that the said power(s) to take disciplinary action is not absolute, the said power(s) to take disciplinary action is limited to doctrine of fair hearing as enshrined in Section 57 of the Peoples Democratic Party Constitution (as amended in 2017) and Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended. As such, your disciplinary powers must not be seen to infringe on the right of another citizen or person.

“There is no doubt that the action taken by you, Apostle Preye Koremene, Chief Frank Omare and Chief Favour Izoukumor of the Peoples Democratic Party in this purported suspension saga acted on hatred, baseless and unfounded allegations.

“Though we are not ignorant of your desperation to remove our client from his mandate as councilor at all cost in connivance with Chief Frank Omare and Chief Favour Izoukumor, since the removal of their councilors in consonance with the constitution and local government law of Delta State by virtue of their resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party and defection to the APC.

“We hereby state categorically that our client remains a bonafide member of the Peoples Democratic Party and that the said purported suspension on our client from the Peoples Democratic Party is null and void as provided in Section 57 (6) of the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party as amended 2017.

“We further state that the press release is libellous and defamatory and therefore give you, Apostle Preye Koremene and the undersigned members of the press release and your sponsors to render an unreserved apology to our client within 48 hours of receipt of this letter.

“Take Notice, that failure to withdraw the said illegal and devilish suspension and render an apology to our client will attract legal action against you and cohorts.”
