- Only one female, Olawepo Tunmise Gertrude from Kwara State, made the top ten, scoring 373 and aiming to study Computer Science at UNILAG.
- All top three scorers — from Anambra, Gombe, and Kwara — selected Mechanical Engineering as their preferred course of study.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the list of the top-performing candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with the highest score recorded at 375 out of 400.
Speaking at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions in Abuja on Tuesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed that Okeke Chinedu Christian emerged as the overall best candidate with a score of 375.

The Anambra native selected the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his institution of choice and intends to study Mechanical Engineering.
Closely following him is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374 and picked Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) to also study Mechanical Engineering.
The third best result came from Jimoh Olayinka Abdulmalik of Kwara State, who scored 373. He also chose UNILAG and the same course—Mechanical Engineering.
“All three top candidates for the 2025 UTME are male,” JAMB stated.
Oloyede further noted that out of the top ten highest-scoring candidates, only one female made the list.
