The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will release the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Friday, May 9.
In an official notice made available in Abuja, the examination body confirmed that the announcement will take place at its national headquarters in Bwari at 8 a.m. on the scheduled date.
This clears the way for candidates who took part in this year’s exam to begin accessing their results from Friday morning.

Ahead of the release, JAMB shared an early performance breakdown, revealing that out of 1.9 million candidates who sat for the exam, more than 1.5 million scored below 200—a figure that reflects a high rate of underperformance.
The UTME is scored over 400, and 200 is generally regarded as the average benchmark for tertiary admission.
Candidates were tested in four subjects, including the mandatory Use of English, alongside three other subjects relevant to their chosen course of study.
Commenting on the performance trend, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, linked the results to recent efforts aimed at tackling examination malpractice.
“The high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is clear evidence that the government’s anti-malpractice measures are yielding results, especially within the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board system,” he said.
