  • JAMB has warned candidates against “desperately selecting examination towns” for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

  •  According to JAMB, candidates have been showing unusual preferences for examination towns.

  •   Only a few states, including Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, and others, have remaining slots for the optional mock examination, and candidates are advised to choose their examination towns wisely.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) against “desperately selecting examination towns.” This warning was issued by the board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.

Benjamin emphasized that the board does not select towns for candidates taking the examination or the optional mock examination. He said, “JAMB has observed unusual preferences among candidates regarding their choice of examination towns, likely in an effort to participate in the optional mock examination.”

The spokesperson explained that 90% of the available spaces for the optional mock exercise across the country had been filled, leaving only a few states with available slots. He listed the states with remaining slots as Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.

Benjamin advised candidates to choose their examination towns wisely, considering travel logistics and convenience. He said, “The Board allocates mock examination spaces for candidates to select based on the availability of mock examination centres, and once a town’s capacity is reached, it will no longer be available for selection.”

The spokesperson stressed that while candidates have the right to choose their preferred examination towns, they must consider the implications of their choices.

He said, “The Board does not want to be overstressed, as the mock examination is only meant to give deserving candidates the opportunity to experience the CBT environment and enable the Board to test its facilities.”

Benjamin quoted the board as saying, “Candidates are encouraged to choose their examination towns with travel logistics and convenience in mind, ensuring a smoother experience on examination day.”

JAMB Suspends Two CBT Centres Over Breach of Registration Procedures

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended two Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for contravening registration procedures in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This decision was announced in a statement by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin.
