The club expects him back after the September international break.

Frimpong was withdrawn after about an hour in his home league debut when medical staff identified the issue; the substitution was a precaution to avoid a longer layoff.

Jeremie Frimpong out for weeks with hamstring injury

Conor Bradley has only just returned to training after his own hamstring setback, leaving Liverpool light at right-back.

As a result, Joe Gomez and other squad members may be used as stop-gaps while Frimpong recovers.

His summer transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, which was made to bolster Liverpool’s attacking full-back position, coincided with the injury.

The club will manage his rehabilitation carefully to have him ready for the busy fixtures after the break.

Meanwhile, talk of Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has continued to dominate the build-up to Monday’s trip to St James’ Park, though Slot has largely steered clear of the speculation.
