Jones made 100 appearances for the Reds in the late 1970s and drove Liverpool to three major trophies: the First Division title, the European Cup and the UEFA Cup.
One of the club’s greatest periods was characterised by his ferocious dedication and brave runs down the left wing.
He also starred for Wales, winning over 70 caps and carrying his Anfield passion onto the international stage.
Liverpool summed it up best:
“The thoughts of everyone at LFC are with Joey’s family and friends at this sad time.”
