Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday morning dispatched a group of June 12 protesters in Gudu area, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, firing teargas canisters in the process.

Sources say the protest started around 08:30 am and had been going smoothly with the protesters, mostly youths, expressing their dissatisfaction at the state of the nation.

The protesters who were chanting ‘Buhari must go”, “Say no to injustice”, scampered for their safety when the security operatives started shooting.

Recall that the Nigerian Police as well as the federal government had warned citizens against staging any protest on Democracy Day.
