Cattle rearers group in Plateau state have lamented, following an attack on their herd.
According to reports, a group of gunmen invaded a grazing land, and opened fire on all on sight.

This happened at the Tashek community of Riyom local government area of Plateau state.
Confirming the attack, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), popularly known as Miyetti Allah, Ibrahim. Yusuf Babayo, the incident happened in the afternoon, around 1pm on Sunday, April 27.
He added that the attack came unprovoked, as a total of 37 cattles died.
Babayo said,
“Gunmen stormed the area and started shooting at grazing cattle, leading to the death of 37 cattle and injury of the herder. Immediately after the attack, I called on the sector commander of Operation Safe Haven in Riyom to inform him about the incident and he subsequently deployed troops to the scene to assess the situation .”
The chairman added that the case has been reported to the necessary securities adding that “they all acknowledged the report and asked to not take law into our hands as efforts are being done to arrest the perpetrators.”
