JUST IN: Arewa Leader, Sarkin Sasa Dies At 125

  • Popular traditional ruler in the northern part of Nigeria, Sarkin Sasa has passed away.

  • He reportedly passed away in his home.

  • Haruna Maiyasin Katsina passed away at the ripe age of of 125.

The council of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 southern states of Nigeria, Haruna Maiyasin Katsina has kicked the bucket.

The ruler was 125 years of age when he passed away on Saturday evening at his home in the Sasa community, Ibadan, in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Reacting to his demise, two senators, Yunus Akintunde and Sharafadeen Alli from the Oyo Central and Oyo South Senatorial District mourned, while sending their condolence

Akintunde, while releasing a statement through his special assistant, said;

Well-loved and highly respected by his subjects and associates across the country, the Sarkin Sasa, as he was fondly called, will be sorely missed.

“He was both a political and spiritual leader to many, endowed with exceptional leadership qualities and a peaceful disposition. We will miss his unwavering support, guidance, and wisdom.”

 

“My heartfelt condolences go to his immediate family, his subjects, and the Hausa communities across Nigeria, even beyond his traditional jurisdiction. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus,”

 

Senator Alli also send his condolences message, while praising the Monarch’s humility, and dedication.

“His leadership virtues were unparalleled, and his peaceful nature was a source of inspiration. He was a father figure to many, always offering wise counsel and unwavering support,” Alli said

A total of 12 people were confirmed dead in the car accident that occured along Benin-Auchi road.
