JUST IN: Court Bars Economic Hardship Protest In Ghana | Daily Report Nigeria

A High Court in Ghana has barred people from holding any protest against economic hardship in the country.

According to reports, a high court sitting in Ghana, and presided by Justice Abena Afia Serwaa placed the bar following request by Ghana police to ban civil society from carrying out any form of protest between July 31 and August 6 as the police would not be able to provide security to protesters.

The police added that some officers have been posted to different sectors of the country for political rallies and election campaigns, and they would not guarantee the protection of protesters.

“Young people are poised to demonstrate with or without the approval of the authorities. A time comes when they will spontaneously jump on the streets and we will have a ‘Kenya’ on our hands.”
