  • Former Oyo State Governor Dr. Victor Olunloyo has passed away just before his 90th birthday.

  • He was a renowned technocrat, mathematician, and engineer with notable appointments, including Rector of Ibadan Polytechnic and Kwara State Polytechnic.

    His family has announced his passing and is making arrangements for a befitting burial.

The family of former Oyo State Governor Dr. Victor Olunloyo has announced his passing into glory.

According to a statement signed by Oladapo Ogunwusi on behalf of the family, Dr. Olunloyo passed away a few days before his 90th birthday.

The statement read, “With a heavy heart but gratitude to the Almighty, we announce the passing into glory of Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, former governor of Oyo State, mathematician and engineer and renowned technocrat. His long record of service to the nation and humanity is a source of pride to his family and associates.”

Dr. Olunloyo had previously debunked rumors of his death in April 2024, stating, “I’m still here, not yet gone.” He also expressed worry over the rumor, asking who would live forever, and noting that those breaking death news and the person presumed dead would all die one day.
