A gang of gunmen have ambushed two busses, abducting 14 passengers in the process.

The abduction was reported to have occurred along the Benue expressway in the state.
14 passengers are currently missing, after being abducted in Benue state.
According to reports, the passengers were ambushed by unknown gunmen along the Makurdi/Naka/Adoka road area of Benue State.

This happened on Thursday, April 24, 2025, around 10 and 11am at the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Confirming the incident, a commercial driver who pleaded anonymity identified the buses as Picnic and Sharon buses, each carrying 12 passengers.
Also confirming the incident, the NURTW secretary, High-Level Unit, Yakubu Onu said the buses have been confirmed to belong to their members at High-Level Park, Makurdi.
The First vehicle was going to Lokoja with nine passengers on board and six of them were abducted and taken to the bush. The second vehicle was coming from Ankpa and coming to Makurdi, eight passengers were abducted at the same spot near Naka,” he said.
He added that 3 passengers were spared, and the driver alongside the passengers proceeded to report the case to the nearest police station.
The driver called and told us that after he reported at the police station in Naka, he was asked to proceed on his journey but we have not heard from him,” Onu said
Also confirming the incident, a traditional ruler of Naka, Daniel Abomtse said some of the passengers spared include an elderly woman, a breastfeeding woman, and some kids with the driver were spared by gunmen.
“The incident happened at Okpa near Adoka and bordering Gwer West LGA and there is an ungoverned space around this area that has become a haven of criminals,” the monarch said.
