The ward leadership acknowledged receipt of the letter the following day.
In the letter, the governor announced his immediate withdrawal from the party while expressing appreciation to the PDP for offering him the platform to participate in Nigeria’s democratic process.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the PDP with immediate effect,” the letter read.
“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process.”
Mutfwang also thanked party leaders, members and supporters for their backing over the years, describing himself as deeply grateful for the trust reposed in him.
Explaining his decision, the governor said he was guided by “the realities of the moment” and a commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and effective service delivery, which necessitated seeking an alternative political platform.
