President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Didi Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, with effect from August 14, 2024.
Walson-Jack, a Federal Permanent Secretary since 2017, has served in several Ministries and will take over from the incumbent Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who is due to retire on August 13, 2024.
According to a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), President Tinubu thanked the outgoing Head of Service for her stewardship and tasked the incoming Head of Service to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and stringent adherence to the extant rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The President’s appointment of Walson-Jack is seen as a move to bring fresh leadership and ideas to the Civil Service, and her experience and expertise are expected to benefit the nation.
As the new Head of the Civil Service, Walson-Jack will oversee the country’s bureaucracy and play a key role in implementing the government’s policies and programs.

“The new appointee will take over from the incumbent Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR, who is due to retire on August 13, 2024,” the statement read.
“President Tinubu, while thanking the outgoing Head of Service for her stewardship, tasks the incoming Head of Service to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and stringent adherence to the extant rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the Federation,” Ngelale said.
