While accepting to be the governorship candidate of the LP, Asake said that the stepping down of other contestant was “an indication of their desire to form a government of unity, a government of stepping down of personal interest for the interest of the general public.”
According to him: “If we have that, we will have good governance and unity among the people. Nobody will be talking about marginalization of tribe, religion, section or region.
“When leaders come on board and don’t have what to offer, they only come to pursue their individual interests, then, they begin to hide under the cover of religion, tribe or section or region, that is what we don’t want because we want leaders that will come and ensure inclusiveness in governance, show justice to everybody, fairness to everybody and when a leader does that, there will be no problem in the State or country.”
