Kaduna Assembly Begins Probe into El-Rufai’s 8-Year Transaction Records | Daily Report Nigeria

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has established an Adhoc Committee to investigate the eight-year administration of ex-governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The committee has set a deadline of Thursday, April 25, 2024, for the submission of memoranda and relevant documents.

It outlined the scope in a formal communication issued by the Clerk of the Assembly, Sakinatu Hassan and sent to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance.

The investigation will focus on loans, financial transactions, contractual liabilities, and other matters obtained or awarded during el-Rufai’s tenure.

Also, the committee has requested several documents, including details of total loans from May 2015 to May 2023 (including approvals by the Kaduna State House of Assembly).

Other documents included executive minutes and resolutions related to loans, records of contractual payments and outstanding liabilities to contractors, salary reports from 2016 to 2022, and Kadris reports from 2015 to 2023.

Furthermore, the Assembly requested for information on the terms, purpose, and conditions of the loans.

Its statement read:

The Kaduna State House of Assembly at its 150th sitting on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, resolved and constituted an adhoc committee to investigate loans, financial transactions, contractual liabilities and other related matters of the Government of Kaduna state from 29th May, 2015 to 29th May, 2023.
