Kaduna Students Refuse School Resumption Over Fear of Bandits

Pupils of primary and secondary school students in Kaduna State, have refused to resume school for the 2022/2023 academic session over the fear of attack by bandits.

Daily Report recalls that the Kaduna State Government had declared September 4, 2022, as resumption date for all schools in the state.

However, some students have refused to return to class two weeks after school resumption over the activities of terrorists in the state.

While the Kaduna State Government has assured the students of safety, some arents have refused to allow their wards go back to school owing to the fact that no concrete security arrangements have been put in place.

A student of Government Secondary School, Kakuri-Kaduna, Suleiman Ibrahim, said he particularly could not risk his life going to school, as he does nt know when bandits would attack

Josephine Moses of Governnent Technical College, Malali, Kaduna said he would not resume school until proper security measures are put place in his school.

“Only a few of us are available. Most classes are empty because no other students agreed to come because they are all afraid of kidnappers” he said.

On his part, Moses Danjuma, an SSS 3 student of Excel Schools, Kakuri-Kaduna said the location of his school attracts kidnappers, and appealed to the management of the school to relocate to another secure location.

Meanwhile, some other students have vowed to remain at home until proper security measures are put in place by the state government.
