Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for President, has officially conceded defeat to Donald Trump following his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

The former president, Trump, secured the necessary 270 electoral votes on Wednesday, reclaiming the office of President of the United States for a second term.

In a demonstration of democratic grace and commitment to the peaceful transfer of power, Harris reached out to Trump in a phone call to congratulate him on his win. According to reports, Harris underscored her belief in unity and emphasized the importance of moving forward together as one nation, despite the fierce political rivalry of the campaign season.

The election result has garnered widespread international attention, with leaders from around the world, including Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, extending their congratulations to Trump.

Harris, who also serves as Vice President, is expected to address the nation soon, where she is likely to reflect on the election’s outcome and the way forward for the Democratic Party.
