Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo recently shared his views on monogamy, stating that he doesn’t believe in it because it is not part of African culture.

Speaking on the latest episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Kanayo expressed his preference for polygamy, emphasizing that monogamy is an imported concept.

“I don’t believe in having one wife. It is not our culture or tradition. These are imported ideas,” he said.

Kanayo also mentioned that he was unaware of divorce until he moved to Lagos from the South East, noting that in Igbo culture, men would rather stay in a marriage than divorce.

“I never knew about divorce until we came to Lagos. An Igbo man prefers to stay in the marriage rather than divorcing,” he stated.

Despite his views, Kanayo is publicly known to be married to one wife, Nneka Onyekwere.
