No fewer than eight persons have so far been rescued from the 3-story building on Beirut Road at a popular GSM market in Kano metropolis, which collapsed on Tuesday, August 30.
Mr. Manzo Ezekiel, Head of Media Unit, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed this via a statement made available to newsmen.
He noted that one person died among the eight rescued victims that were taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital while six others with minor injuries were treated and discharged.

Manzo explained that NEMA was alerted of the incident and immediately mobilized emergency responders to the site for rescue operations.
According to him, NEMA Search and Rescue team from the Agency’s Kano Territorial Office was also deployed to the scene to reinforce and coordinate the rescue operation.
