According to a Freedom Radio report monitored by our correspondent, the presiding Magistrate, Halima Wali, issued the directive to the Hisbah Board following a court session on Monday.

During the hearing, Basira Yar Guda, who is known for her small stature, told the court she was ready to marry her fellow TikToker. The statement reportedly influenced the magistrate’s ruling to make the union official.

Abba El-Mustapha, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board, confirmed the court’s decision and called on members of the public to offer financial support to help the couple prepare for their wedding.

He explained that while the duo had previously collaborated on humorous skits that portrayed them as lovers, the authorities viewed some of their acts as morally questionable.

The marriage directive, however, comes amid claims that Mai Wushirya had been using Basira Yar Guda’s unique appearance to gain social media attention and boost his online engagement.

The case has since drawn wide public interest, with many Nigerians debating the court’s order and its implications for content creators in the state.
