According to the court proceedings, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Badawiyya Shehu Bala, called three witnesses to testify, while the defense presented only one item of evidence.
Justice Sabo ruled that the prosecution had established the defendant’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The court found that Aminu had lured the child from her home to a nearby farm, where he strangled her, used a bottle to slit open her stomach, and removed her intestines.
He was reportedly motivated by a promise of N400,000 from an unnamed individual.
Describing the act, Justice Sabo said it was “inhumane and brutal,” adding that the sentence “serves as a deterrent to others.”
