The 26-year-old suspect was arrested on January 31 by officers attached to the Dorayi Police Division, following what the command described as credible intelligence linking him to organised criminal activities.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said investigations revealed that the suspect played a key role in mobilising groups to terrorise residents.

“In a decisive operation based on credible intelligence, police officers attached to Dorayi Division apprehended a notorious thug, Auwalu Ali, popularly known as Auwalu Dan Daba, who has been coordinating and organising thuggery groups to attack and rob innocent citizens,” Kiyawa stated.

In a related incident, the police disclosed that officers from the Sharada Division responded to a distress call in Sharada Quarters, where a suspected armed robber was lynched by an angry mob after an attack that left a woman critically injured.

The injured victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a police officer voluntarily donated blood, a gesture that helped save her life.

Commending the officers, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised their professionalism, bravery, and sacrifice, particularly the life-saving blood donation.

Bakori also thanked Kano residents for their cooperation but warned against mob action and jungle justice, urging the public to always report suspicious activities to security agencies rather than taking the law into their own hands.
