The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal killing of Mrs Fatima Abubakar and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano, following an intelligence-led operation ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Confirming the development, the state police spokesperson, Haruna Kiyawa, a Superintendent of Police, said the arrests were carried out under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Ibrahim Bakori.

According to Kiyawa, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted sting operation conducted between 10:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, and 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, shortly after the crime was reported.
He explained that a team of crack operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and arrested the suspected masterminds behind the attack.
The suspects were identified as Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters; Isyaku Yakubu, also known as Chebe, 40, of Sagagi Quarters; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, also called Wawo, 21, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, all in Kano.
Police investigations revealed that Umar Auwalu is a nephew of the deceased housewife, a discovery that has further shocked residents of the area.
Kiyawa disclosed that the suspects were also linked to the killing of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters in November last year.
“The leader of the syndicate, Umar Auwalu, a nephew to the deceased housewife, confessed to the crime and admitted that the same group carried out previous killings, including the murder and burning of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters,” Kiyawa said.
During the arrests, police recovered four blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones belonging to the victims, as well as a cutlass and a club believed to have been used during the attack.
The police spokesperson assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to courtonce inquiries are concluded.
