Nollywood actor, director, and filmmaker Kayode Peters will be honoured with funeral ceremonies across three cities—Lagos, London, and Toronto—according to an official announcement from his family.
Peters, who died last month following a prolonged illness, was a well-loved figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. He gained recognition for his vibrant storytelling and creative leadership, particularly on productions like Flatmates and the popular sitcom Extended Family.

In a touching statement shared via Instagram, his family thanked the public for the outpouring of love and support since his passing.
“As we prepare to lay our beloved Kayode Peters to rest, from the depths of our hearts, THANK YOU,” the message read.
“In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, your love, prayers, messages, calls, visits, support, and every gesture of kindness have wrapped us in comfort.”
The family revealed that the funeral rites will begin with a Night of Tribute in Lagos on July 22, followed by another in London on July 29. The final burial service and interment are scheduled for August 2 in Toronto, Canada.
“Upcoming dates and locations of events – Night of Tribute [Lagos] – [22nd July 2025], Night of Tribute [London] – [29th July 2025], Burial Service & Internment [Toronto] – [2nd August 2025],” the statement added.
While Peters’ contributions to Nollywood were widely appreciated, his impact also reached global audiences. In 2024, he was honoured with the Best Director (International) award for his film Survivors at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF).
