Kenyan Gay Right Activist Found Dead in Metal Box

Famous fashion designer and LGBTQ activist, Edwin Chiloba, was on Wednesday found dead by Kenyan police.

According to Kenyan Police, a vehicle with no plate number was seen dropping a metal box along the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road, in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu.

A witness, who happened to be driving by the area when the box was dropped, had reported to police officers stationed at a roadblock around the site of the incident.

The officers abandoned their post and rushed to the scene. Upon opening the box, the body of Chiloba dressed in woman clothing was discovered in the box.

The deceased was transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue where the body will undergo a post-mortem.

The Police Spokesperson, Resila Onyango, who spoke on the incident noted that the motive for his murder has not been established.

She said,

“We don’t know for now why he was killed that way. Experts are handling the matter,” she said.

Uasin Gishu Head of Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Peter Kimulwo, also affirmed that officers of the agency were already following crucial leads which may hopefully result in arrests.

“We will tie up some information we have and that may lead to arrests,” he said.
