Bandits opened fire on worshippers during Friday prayers at Anguwar Makera under Kwasakwasa Community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the death of at least two worshippers.

The incident occurred around 2 pm on Friday, as reported by locals in the area.

Community leader Hudu Kwasakwasa confirmed the attack, adding that the worshippers were in the second raka’at of the salat when they came under fire, prompting others to flee for their lives.

He said:
“The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday). The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery.”

The Leader disclosed the tragic event follows the abduction of over 287 students in the neighboring Chikun Local Government Area less than 24 hours ago.

Meanwhile, the State Government and the Police Command have yet to respond to the mosque incident, as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, remains unreachable by phone and has not replied to a text seeking clarification.
