Kim Kardashian has expressed concern that she is becoming emotionally numb due to past trauma.
In the July 18 episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim shared her struggles with mental health with her sister, Khloe Kardashian. She recounted a conversation with her therapist who suggested that Kim’s tendency to stay calm is a coping mechanism from being desensitized by trauma.
Her therapist noted, “You think calm is your superpower. I think you are so desensitized from trauma that you literally are frozen in fight or flight.” This calm demeanor likely began during a traumatic event when it helped her cope.

Khloe suggested that the trauma might stem from Kim’s 2016 Paris robbery. She pointed out that before the incident, Kim wasn’t calm and often displayed a range of emotions. “You were never calm as a teenager, in your 20s. You cried about everything. You were bratty. You threw tantrums. Everything stopped after you got robbed because you stayed calm in that situation, and you even said, ‘My calmness is what kept me alive.'”
Reflecting on her robbery, Kim Kardashian said, “Imagine you’re like, gun to your head, getting tied up, dragged across a hotel room, and the guy, I remember him telling me, ‘Just like, stay calm and you’ll live.’ And I did that.”
While this calmness served her well during the robbery, Kim now worries that it has gone too far, making her seem emotionless. “I think I’ve let it get too calm to where people could take advantage of my calmness or I’m just turning into a full robot with like, no emotion,” she said.
