Jurgen Klopp expressed his feelings about Jordan Henderson’s decision to leave Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq, describing it as “sad and truly unusual” now that the midfielder has completed his move.

Klopp openly acknowledged that he will miss having Henderson as his skipper and praised the valuable contributions the midfielder made during his time at the club.

After a successful 12-year period with Liverpool, Henderson’s departure was confirmed with a £13 million transfer to the Saudi Pro League club.

He reportedly signed a substantial £700,000-per-week contract with Al-Ettifaq and will be under the guidance of his former Liverpool teammate, Steven Gerrard, in the Middle East.

Coming to terms with this transfer has been challenging for Klopp, and he shared his feelings about seeing Henderson leave Anfield, expressing that it felt both sad and strange.

However, he understood that it could be an exciting new chapter for the midfielder.

Klopp emphasized that Henderson’s presence would be missed, not only as a player but also as a person.

The German manager acknowledged the exceptional qualities of Henderson, considering him a “really good package” and highlighting his technical skills, physical abilities, and leadership on the field.

Henderson was an integral part of an impressive midfield unit that included Fabinho, James Milner, and Georginio Wijnaldum, and Klopp commended their incredible performances together.

He mentioned that their combination lacked nothing and Henderson’s role was crucial in making the midfield successful.

While Henderson is set to make his debut for Al-Ettifaq against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on August 14, Liverpool will continue their preparations with a friendly match against Leicester City in Singapore on Sunday.
