Fanwo commended the DSS for its proactive efforts, describing the report as a positive sign of vigilance. “The report itself is evidence that our security agencies are alive to their responsibilities. We commend the DSS for their vigilance and for providing early intelligence capable of preventing such evil plans from being executed,” he said.
He added that the Kogi State Government is collaborating closely with the DSS, Nigerian Army, Police, and other security formations to ensure that no terrorist attack succeeds in any part of the state.
“His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has made the security of lives and property a top priority of his administration. Strategic measures have been reinforced, and surveillance has been heightened, particularly around border areas,” Fanwo stated.
The commissioner assured residents that there was no cause for panic, urging them to carry on with their daily activities while maintaining vigilance. “The government will protect the people at all costs. We will not allow criminals or terror groups to disrupt the peace and progress we have built. Kogi remains one of the safest states in Nigeria, and we intend to keep it that way,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Government also addressed the situation, calling for calm among citizens. In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the government confirmed awareness of the DSS memo shared with the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure.
Ajanaku explained that the leaked document was part of routine intelligence exchanges between security agencies and did not mean an immediate threat. “These reports are normal parts of security operations aimed at identifying and preventing possible dangers,” he said.

Both governments reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, urging citizens to support the security efforts through vigilance and timely reporting of unusual movements.
