In a recent interview, Korede Bello, the well-known Nigerian singer, shared his perspective on the importance of prioritizing fan satisfaction over accolades like the Grammy Awards.

When asked about whether Nigerian musicians should rely on international platforms such as the Grammys for validation, Bello expressed his preference for making people happy through his music rather than seeking recognition through awards.

For him, the joy and connection he brings to his fans are more fulfilling than any trophy or honor.

He said, “Awards are good, but knowing that your music makes people happy is a better feeling.

“When an artiste makes it to the nomination list of a prestigious award, I believe they are already winners. But I believe in rewards from commercial success over awards.

“It is where you work that you will eat. Part of artistes’ food is validation for our art. Validation for making great art is good. And that can be very inspirational for others to make better art.”
