Reports indicate that the factional Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Arabambi Abayomi, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to arrest, investigate, and prosecute former LP presidential candidate Peter Obi, as well as activists Aisha Yesufu and Sarah Ibrahim, over their alleged roles in inciting treasonable felony, cyberstalking, and cyber-bullying.
In an open letter to President Tinubu, Abayomi emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law and restore public decorum, stressing that the law should apply equally to all Nigerians, irrespective of political standing.
Abayomi also revealed plans to file a Mandamus suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking a court order to compel Tinubu to direct relevant agencies to investigate the trio for allegedly inciting unrest against the government.

“I am compelled to write to you today regarding a matter of grave national importance that strikes at the very heart of our democracy, the rule of law, and the dignity of the highest office in the land: the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Abayomi stated.
He referenced a seven-day pre-action letter sent by Peter Obi’s legal team to activist Deji Adeyanju, demanding a retraction and apology for alleged defamatory statements. Abayomi highlighted what he described as irony in Obi’s actions, citing the former presidential candidate’s October 2023 press conference, where Obi reportedly questioned Tinubu’s identity, parentage, and academic credentials.
The letter criticized Obi’s movement for continuously attacking President Tinubu’s government, describing it as “illegitimate” and undermining the authority of the Supreme Court’s judgment that affirmed Tinubu’s election.
“Every day, on various social media platforms, countless individuals affiliated with Mr. Obi’s movement engage in unchecked libel, openly referring to you in the most derogatory and criminal terms without any consequence,” Abayomi wrote.
He urged President Tinubu to take swift action, directing the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to investigate and arrest the trio, insisting that no one should be above the law in Nigeria.
Abayomi concluded by stating that his legal team would soon file a Mandamus suit to compel the President to act against those he accused of destabilizing the country.
