BREAKING: Labour To Suspend Planned Nationwide Indefinite Strike

The organized labor has agreed to suspend its planned nationwide indefinite strike after a closed-door meeting with the federal government at the Presidential Villa Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the leadership of labour will meet with other organs of workers’ unions to announce the decision to suspend the strike scheduled to begin at midnight on Tuesday, October 3.

According to the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, the N25,000 announced by President Bola Tinubu in his Independence Day anniversary broadcast was now applicable across the board and not only for “low-grade worker.”

The Federal Government has also agreed to remove 7.5% Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel to ensure a reduction in the price of the product that is mostly used to power generating plants in factories and offices

Meanwhile, the Federal Government and Organised Labour were to continue with talks on Monday to further streamline issues surrounding fuel subsidy removal interventions.

Sunday’s meeting was chaired by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

Others present were the Minister of Budget and National Planning; Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejiocha and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
