Lagos Cracks Down on Environmental Offenders, Arrests 14 for Open Defecation, Highway Crossing | Daily Report Nigeria

 

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has arrested 14 individuals for violating environmental laws in Berger, Lagos. The offenders were caught crossing the highway without using pedestrian bridges and engaging in open defecation.

According to the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation is part of the state government’s efforts to maintain a clean and orderly environment in line with its “Zero Tolerance” policy. “Fourteen individuals were arrested at Berger last night for open defecation, open urination, and not using the pedestrian bridge,” Wahab said.

The arrests come as part of a broader effort to enforce environmental laws and maintain public order in Lagos. The state government has been working to improve sanitation and hygiene in the state, and has implemented various initiatives to reduce open defecation and promote the use of pedestrian bridges.
