Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) under the Lagos State Police Command successfully rescued an elderly woman who tried to end her life by jumping into the lagoon from Carter Bridge.
The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. on Friday during a routine patrol, the squad confirmed in a statement on their official X handle, @rrsLagos767.

The officers intervened just in time, preventing a tragic outcome. The woman was immediately taken to the RRS Headquarters, where she was received by the Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye.
After hearing her story, CSP Jejeloye arranged a private reconciliation meeting between the woman, her husband, and their 30-year-old son to address family issues behind the incident.
Following the emotional session, the RRS Commander provided counselling and extended financial support to aid her recovery.
The family expressed sincere gratitude to CSP Jejeloye and the RRS team for their swift and compassionate response, as well as their generous assistance.
The woman has now been released into the care of her husband and son.
